Nomination of Candidates

2013 Election of Directors to the National Board of Directors
& National President

The American Youth Soccer Organization's ("AYSO") National Bylaws and California’s nonprofit corporation law provide several opportunities to nominate candidates for election to AYSO's National Board of Directors and/or as the National President. At the 2013 National Annual General Meeting ("NAGM"), AYSO will elect four Directors to the National Board of Directors for three- year terms and will elect the National President for a one-year term.

Pursuant to AYSO's National Bylaws, candidates may be nominated in any of the three following ways:

Nomination by the Nominating Commission. Any person may submit to the Nominating Commission a Nomination Form proposing a candidate, including himself or herself, for nomination to the AYSO National Board of Directors or as President of AYSO. The Nomination Form must be received at the AYSO National Office by Friday, January 18, 2013 for consideration by the Nominating Commission for nomination. (National Bylaw Section 4.04(a)) OR
Nomination by Petition. Six executive members or more may submit a petition to the AYSO National Office nominating a candidate or candidates to the National Board of Directors or as President of AYSO. The Nomination Petition must be received at the AYSO National Office by Thursday, April 11, 2013. (National Bylaw Section 4.04(b)) OR
Nomination at the NAGM. Any executive member present at the NAGM in person or by proxy may nominate candidates for election to the National Board of Directors and/or for election as President of AYSO. Procedures for such nominations will be described in the materials distributed in connection with the NAGM (National Bylaw Section 4.04(c))

NOTE: All nominees must have a current volunteer application form on file at the National Office or they will not be considered or proposed. AYSO will perform background checks on all candidates for election to the National Board of Directors or the President.

Prior to the NAGM, AYSO shall distribute information to all executive members about candidates for the National Board of Directors and for President of AYSO who were nominated by the Nominating Commission or by petition of six executive members, provided that the required information from candidates is received by AYSO on or before Thursday, April 11, 2013. AYSO cannot distribute candidate information received after that date. Distribution of the candidate information received after April 11, 2013 will only be done at the candidate’s expense.
