-
Have a registration table at your community festival or picnic.
Young families will be out in abundance …let them register right on the spot! Encourage parents to volunteer.
-
March in your town’s Independence Day parade.
A few AYSO kids in uniform carrying your Region’s banner and tossing candy into the crowd is fun and memorable. Ideal for RAP Platinum winners – show off your Platinum banner!
-
Hold a fundraiser.
How about including an activity at your community’s July 4 event, such as pay $1 to kick the soccer ball at a target with a hole in it. Have donated prizes for ‘winners’! Have a kid version with bigger holes and an adult version with smaller holes.
-
Photo booth.
Negotiate with your Picture Day photographer to set up a photo booth and charge for each photo.
-
Pass out registration flyers.
Pass out registration flyers or postcards. (Have adults in AYSO t-shirts roaming the crowd offering flyers or postcards with registration information. Kids in uniform are great too, but be sure they are accompanied by a parent or otherwise are Safe Haven-appropriate.)
-
Host a SoccerFest.
Invite all the kids in the community …not just AYSO! Promote in your local newspaper.
-
Host a FunFest.
Less formal than a SoccerFest, but lots of fun for both AYSO and non-AYSO kids.
-
Host an AYSO clinic.
Set up a short clinic event at the community activity and invite all kids to attend.
-
Get creative.
What have other youth or service organizations done successfully at your community events? Learn from them and make it your own!
-
Create a charitable event.
Collect gently used soccer shoes and shinguards for kids in need. Send a press release to your local newspaper, radio and TV encouraging families from all soccer organizations to donate and bring their items by. Include a registration opportunity or distribute AYSO information at the collection location.
