Registration to Be Held at Women’s National Basketball Hall of Fame



Woman's National Basketball Hall of Fame at dusk.Registration for the AYSO National Games 2012 in Knoxville, Tenn., will be held Sunday, July 1 at 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, July 2 at 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, July 3 at 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (days and times may change) at the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame was opened in June 1999. It is dedicated to all level of women's basketball and is a salute to women in sports. The UT Lady Vols basketball team, coached by the legendary Pat Summitt, has been a contender for national titles for over 30 years, having made every NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championship tournament since the NCAA began sanctioning women's sports in the 1981-82 season.

The Hall of Fame building is encompassed by two basketballs. On the north end, visitors can find the world's largest basketball, which weighs 10 tons and sits on a top of a glass staircase that resembles a basketball net. On the south end, there is a brick courtyard shaped like a basketball.

Inside the Hall, visitors will see a 17-foot bronze sculpture by Californian artist Elizabeth McQueen, as well as multimedia presentations, basketball artifacts and memorabilia on the history of women's basketball.
