Become a Referee for the 2012 National Games
Welcome to the Knoxville, Tennessee, 2012 AYSO National Games Referee webpage!
We hope you will return to this page often for updates as they will be coming quickly as will be the Games. The referee administration team would like to thank those that have already stepped up to make these games a success for the kids. For those that have not signed up yet, please click
www.zayso.org and get in the system. If you are not a registered volunteer with AYSO but are certified with USSF, we would love to have you as our organizations are linked at the law book. We've provided some instruction on how to do that below. Our goal is to have over 400 referee volunteers to minimize the physical impact and to provide the safest, fairest, and most fun experience for our kids yet.
Currently, we are planning on three, age-group specific venues on the west side of town for the Games. The venues are compact making it a short walk from the referee tent to each field. Two of the venues are about 15 minutes apart with the third being less than 30 minutes from the first two.
We hope to see you in Knoxville in July whether it be for the whole event beginning July 1 and ending July 8, or for any part of that week. Even one day of your time is helpful.
Thank you,
Bob Denne
AYSO National Games 2012 Referee Administrator

Referee HousingOur goal is to provide the most affordable housing possible for our volunteers. The University of Tennessee has partnered together with the 2012 National Games to provide affordable Housing for the 2012 National Games Referees.
Referees will be housed at the Laurel Hall Apartments located at 1615 Laurel Avenue, Knoxville, TN. We plan on housing 2 referees to each apartment which has two bedrooms, sharing a semi-private bath with their apartment mate. Linens and bath towels are included in each apartment which also is furnished, including a kitchen with cooking utensils and cable TV hook up. While each Apartment is fully furnished they do not come furnished with a TV’s. If they bring their own they can hook it up to the cable. See attached Apartment layout file

The desk at Laurel Hall will need to hold Officials responsible for lost keys at the current rate of $26 for replacement.
From this location we plan on having shuttle service to and from the venues’ for the referees. Also the apartments are close to the Cumberland Ave eateries about 3 city blocks.

Things to Do in and Around KnoxvilleNational Games RulesNational Games Referee Webinar (coming soon)
In order to better prepare our referees for the Knoxville experience, we will be developing a webinar, specific to referees, that help you better understand the implementation of the rules of the Games and what you can expect in Knoxville. This will all be reinforced once in Knoxville with a face to face meeting prior to the Games. Look for the webinar to be posted sometime in late April.
Match Signup PolicyIt is our goal to have 100 percent coverage of all matches using the best available referees, regardless of level. We will all wear the same badge and understand that our normal badge may not necessarily dictate our ability. If you are not an AYSO Advanced or National level referee and feel you are qualified to do a U16 or U19 level match, we ask that you be proactive and send us a recommendation from your Regional or Area Referee Administrator. If you are a USSF referee and have little or no AYSO experience, contact us directly and we will help figure out which matches are best for you. Once you have the AYSO Experience, we hope you will stay. Several ex-FIFA and USSF National referees are an integral part of our organization.
