Meet AYSO Coach Leane Ritchie

AYSO coach Leane Ritchie, from Region 107 in San Carlos, Calif., is Hey Coach's featured coach of the month! Leane - who currently coaches U-19 girls in her Region - was introduced to soccer in 2000 when her daughter started playing. "The following year when I went to sign her up, her coach from the previous year suggested that I should coach," shares Leane. "He said that we could coach together, so I did. I became the assistant coach for my daughter's U-10 team."

That was the beginning of a wonderful AYSO journey for Leane (pictured above with her team), who has discovered a deep love of coaching while being able to spend time with her daughter, learning the sport. "My favorite part of AYSO is the relationships with the kids and their families," says Leane. "It has been so fun watching the kids grow up and seeing them around town."

Leane's tip for other AYSO coaches? "Have fun! And don't judge yourself by wins and losses."
